Testing 1 2 3
Testing children may be controversial. Josh doesn’t care a bit about it, and I know that test scores don’t give a full picture of a child. Nevertheless, at one of Walter’s schools they test all the children so they can customized their lesson plans. If you are curious, as I was, here are the results:
Test of Language Development: 10 is average
Picture Vocab: 8
Relational Vocab: 5
Oral Vocab: 8
Grammatical Understanding: 7
Sentence Imitation: 6
Grammatical Completions: 6
(he is below average significantly)
subtests: 100 is average
Listenting: 85
Speaking: 82
Semantics: 81
Syntax: 76
(These results show what we already knew. He is a visual learner and does not process auditory imput easily. He can’t get a sense of the grammar of English because he doesn’t understand what he is hearing all the time. Anyway, this is key information to know when I’m trying to understand his behavior and his world.)
In the following tests, we see Walter’s strengths:
Test of Early Reading Ability:
above 99th percentile
Woodcock Reading Mastery Test: (intended for age 5 and up)
Word Identification: 2.7 grade equivalent
Word Attack: 2.7 grade equivalent
Beery Test of Visual Motor Integration:
developmental age: 4 years, 4 months
What can I say about that? He is cute!!
